“Shift”, 2026 moves away from the artists use of fleshy collages, allowing the figure to spread across the full canvas and demand the audiences focus. In a similar pose to her prior piece “Flood of Flesh”, the artist distorts the figures features through perspective, her giant feet grip the surface, disproportionate to the figures body. A sense of vulnerability and intimacy is introduced with the focus on the figures feet, but their shocking size and almost animalistic position instills a sense of power. The visceral texture throughout the figures flesh reflects the imperfection of flesh (scarring, tearing, blistering), and forces the viewer toward this large scale painting to inspect those tangible details.
